How it was: Money Meetup: Women and Money in Vienna 27.03.2025. – Global Money Week

On 27th of March 2025, “Prospera – Verein zur Förderung von Finanzbildung und Economic Empowerment von Frauen” organized an event at Impact Hub Vienna with the topic: “MONEY MEETUP: Women and Money“ to create a space where women can learn and talk about money and money related topics. The event was also part of Impact Hub’s Wellbeing Week.

Regarding the topics „financial independence and financial security of women“ and  „how to overcome gender, pay, investment and STEM career gap“ valuable data, insights and recommendations have been shared with attendees by the speakers:
– Karolina Herbut, Business mentor, Financial educator, ICF ACC coach, Entrepreneur, Co-founder at Prospera,
– Iris Litschauer, Business Coach and Consultant, Entrepreneur
– Rebecca Spanos,  Co-founder of NIWA (Network of International Women in Austria)
– Romana Wochl, Co-founder at Prospera.

Through a panel discussion and money talks in small groups we covered the following topics:

– Gender biases and stereotypes women face at the workplace and being an entrepreneur,
– Why are more women in less paying career fields, and less women/girls are choosing a career in fields with a higher income (like STEM),
– Why there are less women in entrepreneurship and management positions.

But also:
– How to overcome the gender pay gap, how to speak up and negotiate for a raise,
– How women can advance in their career,
– Investment gap, women’s attitude towards money and financial habits,
– Generally how all these topics affect women’s short and long term financial stability and independence and what they can do about it.

I specifically went through the data how is being less paid, doing more unpaid work is affecting the women’s investing potential and how women end up with less than 100,000 EUR in retirement than men.

After the formal part of the event the participants continued the discussion through networking.

With this event Prospera celebrated also the Global Money Week. The event was also part of Impact Hub’s Wellbeing Week.
